15. November 2023
The event will focus on the increasing digitalization in the various areas of the road sector. Intelligent traffic signal control and the use of artificial intelligence in maintenance management and tunnel operation are just a few examples. Professor Josef Hegger, initiator of the Center Building and Infrastructure Engineering in the Construction Cluster, will talk about modular bridges for the renewal of transport infrastructure in the context of experience gained throughout Germany in pilot projects for bridges with spans of up to 50 m made of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete or prefabricated composite elements. In addition, the current progress in the development of a planning aid for the implementation of modular bridges in Germany will be presented.
The planning aid is being developed by the Center Building and Infrastructure Engineering together with a consortium from industry, science and public clients. On the basis of the planning aid, the applicable regulations for bridge structures can be examined more specifically and, if necessary, adapted in the future. Above all, this will simplify the practical implementation of modular bridges, so that an alternative standard construction method can be established alongside conventional construction.
